Hillside Home Plan by Chadbourne + Doss Architects
A redesigned main entrance with cantilevered concrete walls set in the page concave, leading to a 4-by-11-ft. pivoting door that swept you in it. The interior is embellished with the ingredients but the sharp and contemporary nature of expansive glass wall bordering the more deepen the relationship between inside and outside. The layout is open concept to encourage socialization and interaction in the large living room. This house has led the transformation of the hill by the innovators at Chadbourne + Doss Architects. The original 1962 house on Mercer Island in Washington, designed by Seattle architect Fred Bassetti, turned into a modern living space with private rooms only rivaled by the outdoors. Houses hill rooted to the sloping hillside site with steel skin covering the roof and exterior. An aluminum enclosure wraps an open deck and patio, inviting outdoor living into the floor plan of the house.
