Lodge barbershop from Suppose Design Office
Japan remains top source of art and creativity. In this sense, the latest work of architectural Suppose Design Office has called our attention. This is Lodge, a beauty salon personalized Hiroshima untreated wood, the lack of walls and a mirror band that wraps around the perimeter of the cutting space. Studied elements and high functionality help define each area.
Delete all the stereotypes of a traditional barbershop and think about the interactive relationship that both customers and staff had to keep the space was the starting point for creating this show and give them greater opportunities. To address this interior architectural design had to delete any preset idea. “When designing a space, eliminating common sense is the key to new ideas,” said Makoto Tanijiri responsible for the study.
Dubbed Lodge, the room has been decorated with furniture of untreated wood, while the mirror finish has a nuanced, frosted, except in areas where customers can sit. This combination of surface-finished parts-nuanced and reflective parts, gives an impression of movement. The lighting system is supported on wooden structures hanging.
The waiting area was built on an elevated platform, is equipped with wooden chairs and a counter bar as a bar. In the work area, the salon had to meet the demands of both customers and employees. To this end, we chose a sequence of environments without dividing walls. The floating mirror placed just at eye level, is the only partition across the space. The position of the mirror and studied the shelves has a dual role. On the one hand, blocking the view of our customers are seated, allowing perceived privacy. Second, the mirror hanging position and the absence of walls allows employees may have a global view of the room, making their job easier.
