New offices for a better world1

First there was a garden, then a workshop, and now this incredible space in the center of the city has become Hub Madrid, A new office concept, designed and built under the philosophy of co-creation. Renovated by the architectural firm CH + QS architectsThe proposed new building has been made on the basis of criteria for saving energy, economic sustainability and recycling. Defined as its promoters, Madrid Hub “is a new workspace to inspire, connect and promote Social Innovators: people working to create a better world.” For the architects in charge of rehabilitation, the building was a real find in the center of the city, a true architectural heritage to be respected: a garage unused for more than 40 years that required a project almost non-design. Rather, recovery and reuse. Cover was isolated and the walls were left as is, without painting. We recovered the ancient decorative details, like the old metal signs. Were made only a terse adaptation interventions: added a heated floor under a platform of wooden planks and panels of recycled felt isolated from the walls in the meeting rooms. Objects used to furnish the premises used as couches and chairs recovered or old boxes were converted into shelves and stairs … and planted an orange tree in the old moat of oil change.
