Located near Raleigh, North Carolina. Beautiful sloping wooded terrain presents this second house was interesting and problematic characteristics. Between the zoning restrictions, streams and steep slopes, architect designing a house with three floors cool with three very different volumes, each facing a different direction and the cantilever between each other and the open air. Architect Michael Rantilla of the Freelon Group is the creative force behind the Residence Rantilla, admirable example of modern architecture where nature and industry come together in harmony. Besides looking cool, this innovative plan to set a few areas covered outdoor living (one occupied the roof of the volume of each, and the shady shelter beneath them) not to mention the wonderful deck that sprawls out from the main level. Inside, this modern house is clear “industry” with the unusual presence of concrete walls and floors are equipped with sleek, urban materials such as stainless steel and large walls of glass.
